New to the Canadian Dental Care Plan? Here is what to confirm and bring so your first visit goes smoothly and there are no billing surprises.
Using the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) for the first time can feel like a lot of paperwork. A little preparation makes your visit at our dentist in South Surrey calmer and more predictable. Here is a simple checklist.
Step 1: Confirm your CDCP coverage is active
Before you book, check that your enrolment has been approved and that you have your coverage details from the Government of Canada and Sun Life. Eligibility and coverage rules are set by the program, so it helps to have your confirmation handy.
Step 2: Gather what to bring
Please bring:
- Your CDCP card or confirmation details
- Photo ID
- Any private insurance information, if you have it
- A list of medications and health conditions
Step 3: Share your details when you book
Tell our team you will be using CDCP when you call. We can note it on your file and let you know what to expect. If you are new to us, our new patient information covers what happens at a first visit.
Step 4: Ask for a cost review before treatment
CDCP pays according to its own fee schedule, which may differ from our fees. Your portion is the difference. We will review it with you before treatment begins, and for larger treatment we can request an estimate. Estimates can change with plan rules.
Step 5: Plan follow-up care
Ask your dentist which care is most important first, and which can wait. Coverage matters, but your oral health comes first.
