Dental Insurance & CDCP Questions, Answered
dentalinsurance
Does your dentist take CDCP, and will it cover your whole bill? Straight answers from a South Surrey dental team.
Wondering how dental insurance and the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) work at your dentist in South Surrey? Here are plain answers to the questions we hear most.
Do you accept insurance and CDCP?
Yes. We accept private dental insurance and the Canadian Dental Care Plan. For most plans we direct bill, including CDCP through Sun Life, so you pay only what your plan doesn't cover.
Who qualifies for CDCP?
The Government of Canada decides eligibility. Generally you need:
- No private dental insurance
- A filed tax return
- Canadian tax residency
- Income under $90,000
Will CDCP cover 100% of my bill?
Not always. CDCP pays the amount in its own fee schedule, which can be lower than our fees. Our fees follow the BC Dental Association Suggested Fee Guide. You pay the difference, not a surcharge, and our team reviews your portion with you before treatment begins.
Should I wait for my benefits to renew?
Only if your dentist agrees. Putting off care can let a small problem grow. Share your plan details with us, and for larger treatment we can request an estimate so you can decide with the full picture. Estimates can change with plan rules.
What do you recommend first?
Your dentist plans your care, and your plan decides what it pays. So we start with what your mouth needs, then explain your coverage and costs.
