A simple step-by-step guide to what to bring, what to ask, and what to expect at your first implant consultation in South Surrey.

A first implant consultation goes more smoothly when you arrive prepared. This step-by-step guide covers what to gather, what to ask, and what happens during the visit, so you can focus on understanding your options.

Step 1: Gather your health information

Write down your current medications, any health conditions, and any past dental work. If you have recent X-rays from another dentist, ask for a copy to bring along.

Step 2: Check your coverage

Contact your insurer, or review your CDCP details, before you come in. Our guide to dental insurance and CDCP explains what to have on hand, and the first visit checklist walks through what to prepare.

Step 3: Write down your questions

A few good ones to start with:

  • What are my options besides an implant?
  • What will the plan look like from start to finish, and how long will it take?
  • What are the costs at each stage, and what may be covered?
  • What sedation choices are available if I feel nervous?

Step 4: Know what happens at the visit

Expect a conversation about your goals, an exam, and a Cone Beam 3D scan so your dentist can see your bone, nerves and sinuses. You will not be rushed into a decision. Your plan and costs are explained before any treatment begins.

Step 5: Plan your next step

Take your time to think things over. If you feel anxious about the procedure, read our sedation dentistry guide.
