A closer look at how ECG, heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen and breathing are monitored during IV sedation at our South Surrey practice.

Many people want to know what safety looks like during sedation. Here's a closer look at how your care team keeps watch.

A trained team by your side

Our dentist and certified dental assistant are both trained in IV sedation. Someone from your team stays with you the whole time.

What we monitor

  • ECG: follows the rhythm of your heart
  • Heart rate: beats per minute
  • Blood pressure: checked throughout your visit
  • Oxygen level: the oxygen in your blood
  • Breathing rate: kept steady and calm

Why monitoring matters

Continuous readings let the team see how you're responding and adjust as needed. It's a routine part of how we look after patients.

Medication choices

We use non-opioid medications. Your dentist will explain what's planned and review your medical history beforehand.

Technology in the practice

See more about the equipment we use on our dental technology page.

Individual experiences vary, and we'll always talk through your own health picture first. Learn more in our sedation dentistry guide, or call 604-535-8835.
