See how a same-day crown goes from broken tooth to finished in one visit, from the front desk to bonding.

Wondering how a crown can be done in a single visit? Here's the day at our South Surrey office, step by step, using a digital impression instead of impression trays. Learn more in our same-day CEREC crowns guide.

  1. Front desk: Free parking in the plaza, a warm hello, and your costs explained before treatment. We offer direct billing for most private plans and CDCP.
  2. Exam: A low-dose digital X-ray and an exam help decide whether a crown is right for you, and we go over your options.
  3. Freezing and scan: Your tooth is frozen, then a small scanner takes a quick 3D digital impression. No impression goop.
  4. Design: Your crown is designed on screen from the scan, adjusting its shape, fit, and how it meets your bite.
  5. Milling: The crown is milled right here in our office from a solid ceramic block. Milling takes about seventeen minutes, and with sintering and glazing it's roughly forty-five minutes from design to ready.
  6. Fit and bond: We try it in, check your bite, and bond it in place.
  7. Heading home: In many cases you leave the same day, with no temporary and no second visit.

Nervous about the visit?

Your tooth is frozen first, and if you're anxious you can ask about sedation, including IV. Our sedation dentistry guide explains the options. You can also check dental insurance and CDCP coverage ahead of time.

Who's behind your crown?

Dr. Farid Alenabi is UBC-trained with over twenty years of experience, and our practice has served South Surrey and White Rock for more than thirty years.
