Crown, bridge, or implant? Here's what each one does and how to know which is right for your tooth.

Cracked tooth, large old filling, or a missing tooth? The right fix depends on what's left of the tooth, your bone, and your goals. Here's a quick guide to crowns, bridges, and implants at our South Surrey practice.

Crowns: protect and rebuild

A crown is a protective cap that restores a tooth's shape and supports normal chewing. For our all-ceramic crowns, we remove less than one millimetre of tooth structure to keep as much natural tooth as possible. Options include:

  • All-ceramic — aesthetic ceramic for front teeth, strong zirconia for back teeth
  • Full gold — typically for molars
  • Porcelain-fused-to-metal

Most of our all-ceramic crowns are made in a single appointment using CEREC technology.

Bridges vs implants: replacing a missing tooth

A bridge places crowns on the teeth beside the gap, with a natural-looking replacement tooth filling the space. It's usually ready in 10–14 days and generally costs less.

An implant takes four to six months to heal, but it's easier to clean, feels more natural when chewing, and is known for long-term success.

Dr. Farid Alenabi will assess your teeth and walk you through every option, and our front desk explains costs and insurance coverage before treatment. Call 604-535-8835 to book.
