How CDCP Cost Sharing Works: Understanding Your Portion by Income

A closer look at how CDCP copayments are set by family income, why two fee guides matter, and how to know your cost before treatment.

Many patients are surprised to learn that CDCP does not always cover the full bill. Understanding how cost sharing works helps you plan with confidence.

Income decides your copayment

Your share is based on family income:

  • Under $70,000: you pay 0%
  • $70,000 to $79,999: you pay 40%
  • $80,000 to $89,999: you pay 60%

The percentage applies to the fee CDCP recognizes for the service.

Why there are two fee guides

CDCP uses its own fee guide, and dental offices may use a different one. The difference between them becomes your portion. This is why two patients with the same coverage can see different final amounts.

Getting your cost before treatment

At Morgan Heights, we explain the difference and give you your cost before treatment begins, so there are no surprises. We also bill Sun Life directly, which means no claim forms.

Questions to ask any dentist

  • Do you bill Sun Life directly?
  • Will I receive a cost estimate before treatment?
  • Which fee guide do you use?
