Traditional crowns mean two visits, a temporary crown, and a couple of weeks of waiting. CEREC changes that by designing, milling, and placing the crown in one appointment.
Digital scanning replaces the impression tray
Instead of biting into putty, a small wand captures a 3D scan of your tooth in a few minutes. It's more comfortable and more precise, especially near the gumline.
Chairside design in software
Your dentist designs the crown on-screen, matching the shape of the surrounding teeth and the way you bite. Adjustments happen before anything is made — not after.
On-site milling from a ceramic block
A milling unit in the office shapes the crown from a solid ceramic block colour-matched to your tooth. This step usually takes 15–30 minutes.
Bonding in the same visit
Once polished, the crown is bonded in place and checked against your bite. You leave with the final restoration — no temporary, no second freezing appointment.
Where CEREC fits (and where it doesn't)
CEREC works well for most single-tooth crowns, inlays, and onlays. Larger bridges or implant-supported crowns may still use lab-fabricated restorations.
