Same-Day CEREC Crowns After a Broken Tooth: How It Works
dentalcare
How a broken or cracked tooth can be restored in a single visit with digital impressions and in-office milling.
If a tooth has broken, the idea of weeks with a temporary crown can feel discouraging. Same-day CEREC technology offers another path for many patients.
What is a CEREC crown?
CEREC is a system that designs and mills a ceramic crown in the dental office. Instead of messy impression material, we take a digital scan of your tooth.
How the visit works
- Assessment. We examine the tooth and confirm that a crown is suitable.
- Preparation. We gently remove damaged areas and shape the tooth.
- Digital scan. A small camera captures the tooth in detail.
- Design and milling. The crown is designed on screen and milled from a ceramic block.
- Placement. We check the fit and bite, then bond the crown in place.
Why patients choose it
- Often one visit rather than two
- No traditional putty impressions
- No temporary crown in many cases
- Ceramic materials that blend with natural teeth
Is it right for every tooth?
Not always. Some situations, such as extensive damage or infection, may call for other treatment first. We will explain your options clearly after an exam, and results vary from person to person.
