Booking with a new dental office comes with a lot of small questions. Here are straight answers to the ones we hear most often.
How long does a first appointment take?
Plan for 60 to 90 minutes. That includes paperwork, a comprehensive exam, x-rays if needed, and usually a cleaning.
Do I need to bring anything?
Your insurance card, a list of medications, and — if you have them — recent x-rays from your previous dentist. If you don't have records, we can take new ones.
Will I get a cleaning on the first visit?
Often yes, once the dentist has completed the exam. If your gums need more attention, a follow-up appointment may be recommended.
How much will the first visit cost?
A new-patient exam, x-rays, and cleaning are billed at standard BC fee-guide rates. We give you an estimate before treatment and can direct-bill most insurance plans.
What if I'm nervous?
Let us know when you book. We can slow the pace, explain each step, and discuss sedation options if that would help.
Can I bring my kids to the same appointment?
Yes — we see families together and can stagger appointments so parents and children are in adjacent chairs. See our family dentistry page for details.
Do you accept direct billing?
Most major insurance plans, yes. Bring your card and we'll submit the claim for you.
