A closer look at how CEREC crowns are designed, milled, and fitted in a single visit — no temporary crown, no second appointment.
A traditional crown usually means two appointments, a temporary in between, and a goopy impression. CEREC changes that. Here's how the same-day workflow works at our South Surrey clinic.
1. Digital impression
Instead of a tray of putty, we scan your tooth with a small wand. The scan builds a 3D model on-screen in a couple of minutes — more comfortable, and no gag reflex.
2. On-screen design
Software maps the crown to your bite and neighbouring teeth. Your dentist fine-tunes shape, contact points, and thickness before anything is made.
3. In-house milling
A ceramic block — matched to your tooth shade — is loaded into the milling unit. In roughly 15 minutes, your crown is shaped from a solid piece of ceramic.
4. Try-in, glaze, and bond
We check the fit and bite, glaze the crown for a natural finish, then bond it in place. You leave with the final restoration the same day.
