Same-Day CEREC Crowns in South Surrey: How One Visit Replaces Three

A deep dive into same-day CEREC crowns — how the scan-mill-bond workflow saves two visits and skips the goopy impressions.

Traditional crowns mean two or three appointments, a temporary that can pop off, and a wait of a week or more. Same-day CEREC crowns compress all of that into a single visit.

What CEREC actually does

CEREC combines a digital intraoral scan, 3D design software, and an in-office milling unit. Instead of a putty impression shipped to an outside lab, your crown is designed chairside and milled from a solid ceramic block while you wait.

The one-visit workflow

  1. Scan — a small wand captures your tooth in 3D. No gagging, no trays.
  2. Design — the crown is designed on-screen to match your bite and neighbouring teeth.
  3. Mill — the ceramic block is shaped in about 15 minutes.
  4. Bond — the crown is polished, tried in, and permanently bonded the same day.

Total chair time is usually around two hours.

Why the material holds up

CEREC uses high-strength lithium disilicate or zirconia ceramics — comparable in strength and aesthetics to lab-made crowns, with no temporary cement failures in between.

Who's a good candidate

Most single-tooth crowns, large fillings being replaced, and some veneers. Very large bridges or complex multi-unit cases may still benefit from a lab workflow — we'll tell you honestly which path fits.
