How to Prepare for a Same-Day CEREC Crown Appointment

Published

A simple walkthrough of what to do before, during and after a same-day crown visit at our South Surrey office.

If you've booked a same-day crown, here's how to make the visit smooth from start to finish.

Before your appointment

  • Eat a light meal beforehand — the appointment runs about 90 minutes to 2 hours.
  • Brush and floss as usual so the digital scan picks up clean tooth surfaces.
  • Let us know if you'd like freezing options discussed, or if dental visits make you anxious.

During the appointment

  1. Numbing and prep. The tooth is gently freed of decay or old filling material and shaped for the crown.
  2. Digital scan. A small wand captures your tooth in a few minutes — no goopy trays.
  3. Design. We design the crown on-screen while you relax.
  4. Milling. The crown is milled from a ceramic block in-office, usually in 15–20 minutes.
  5. Fit and bond. We check the bite, polish, and bond the crown in place.

After your appointment

  • Freezing wears off in a few hours — chew on the other side until then.
  • Mild sensitivity to cold for a few days is normal.
  • Floss gently around the new crown and keep your regular cleaning schedule.
